The UAE Mission to the United Nations announced on Thursday that it has called for an open session of the UN Security Council, scheduled to take place on Friday afternoon.
This move comes in response to the challenging situation and escalating developments in Gaza.
In the framework of its efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and support the healthcare system in Gaza, the UAE recently facilitated an airlift of hospital equipment as part of “Operation Brave Knight 3.”
This humanitarian initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to assisting its Palestinian brethren during these critical times.
On Thursday morning, the UAE dispatched an aircraft carrying 25 tons of diverse food and medical aid to the city of Al-Arish.
This aid shipment is intended for delivery to Gaza through the Rafah border crossing in coordination with the United Nations World Food Programme.
This humanitarian assistance is part of the ongoing “Mercy for Gaza” campaign initiated by the UAE in October last year.
The campaign aims to gather and distribute relief packages to alleviate the humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinian people, especially the most vulnerable groups, including children and women.
The open session at the UN Security Council called for by the UAE highlights the nation’s dedication to addressing the urgent needs and escalating challenges in Gaza, reaffirming its commitment to contributing to regional stability and humanitarian efforts.
