The Tunisian Minister of Interior, Kamal al-Feki, and the Tunisian Minister of Trade and Export Development, Kulthum bin Rajab, touched upon ways to enhance food security in the country.
The two ministers decided to form joint fieldwork teams and carry out sudden monitoring campaigns on all those involved in the food sector.
They also discussed the various causes of the disorder in bread and some foodstuffs and stressed the need to increase the level of coordination in order to provide all material and human resources.
During their meeting, Al-Feki and bin Rajab stressed that everything that might affect the food security of Tunisia should be addressed.
Last March, President of the Tunisian Centre for Global Security Studies Ezzedine Zayani highlighted that over 3 million Tunisians are faced with the threat of food insecurity.
This includes 1.5 million who will have to deal with this, Zayani further mentioned referring to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2022.
Furthermore, Zayani warned against the current food situation worldwide and especially in Tunisia “which is at considerable risk.”
