Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the recent European sanctions imposed on the country, emphasizing that Tehran has not supplied ballistic missiles to Russia.
On Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei labeled the sanctions imposed by the European Union and the UK on several Iranian entities and individuals as “unjustified” and based on “baseless accusations.” According to Iranian media, Baghaei stated, “The new sanctions imposed by the EU and Britain on Iranian figures under false and unfounded pretexts are unjustified and in clear violation of international law and human rights principles.”
In a statement reported by the Tasnim News Agency, Baghaei dismissed the claims that Iran had sold ballistic missiles to Russia. He reiterated that Iran’s stance on the Ukraine conflict remains “clear and principled,” emphasizing that Iran has opposed the war since its inception and has urged for a diplomatic solution, while also respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations involved.
Baghaei further criticized the accusations made by European countries and the UK, describing them as a diversion tactic. He asserted, “These allegations are deceptive and are aimed at distracting from the more pressing issue at hand—the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.”
