The Syrian embassy in Tunisia has begun offering consular services following the opening of its consular section, the completion of logistical elements, and the securing of the necessary human resources.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Syrian embassy in Tunisia held a ceremony to celebrate the completion of renovation works and the modernization of the mission building. The event was attended by numerous Syrian expatriates living in Tunisia and several Tunisians.
The move by Tunisian President Kais Saied to appoint a new ambassador was immediately approved and reciprocated by the Syrian government, a joint statement from the two countries’ foreign ministries read, according to SANA.
The Syrian Ambassador to Tunisia, Mohammad Mohammad, emphasized that the embassy team will work diligently to provide the best services to all Syrians. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of the embassy to enhance relations between Syria and Tunisia, aiming to benefit both peoples.
Tunisia has become the latest Arab state to reestablish diplomatic ties with Syria, after cutting off relations a decade ago, reflecting a broader trend of renewed diplomatic engagements between Syria and various Arab states. The reopening followed Tunisia’s decision to appoint a new ambassador to Damascus, reciprocated by Syria’s appointment of a new ambassador to Tunisia.
This restoration of diplomatic ties is part of Syria’s gradual reintegration into the Arab diplomatic community, accelerated by regional developments and diplomatic initiatives.
