The Sudanese Army has successfully regained full control over the area of Hajar al-Asal in Nile River State, according to a statement released by the local resistance committees on Saturday evening.
The statement, reported by “Al-Mashhad Al-Sudani” website, highlighted that the army now controls the northern and central parts of Hajar al-Asal. However, the southern regions continue to see activity from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
The committees urged citizens to avoid potential conflict zones and steer clear of danger areas.
In a significant move on Friday, the Sudanese Army announced its control over the Kadro area in Bahri, north of Khartoum, which had been a critical supply line for the RSF, particularly for fuel supplies from the Khartoum Petroleum Refinery in Al-Jaili.
“Sudan Tribune” reported that this expansion of control followed a major military operation launched from Omdurman to the twin cities of Khartoum and Bahri, marking it as the largest operation since the onset of the conflict in the capital cities.
The military’s progress was documented in videos showing officers and soldiers in the Kadro suburb following its declaration as cleared of RSF forces.
The military commander of the Kadro area, Major General Al-Nu’man Awad Al-Sayed, announced the “cleansing of Kadro from rebellion,” and affirmed the army’s intention to continue clearing potential pockets of resistance.
Additionally, Sudan’s Attorney General, Moulana Al-Fateh Mohammed Issa Tayfour, confirmed ongoing efforts to pursue leaders of the “Progress” democratic civil forces coordination, who have allegedly collaborated with the rebel RSF.
Tayfour specifically mentioned pursuing Abdullah Hamdok, the former Prime Minister and head of the Sudanese Democratic Civil Forces Coordination, and others involved, vowing to capture and prosecute them on Sudanese soil, according to the Sudanese news agency.
This consolidation of control by the Sudanese Army is part of broader efforts to restore stability and ensure security across the country amidst ongoing civil conflict and political turbulence.
