Sudan Airways is set to resume flights to Jeddah from Port Sudan Airport next week, as announced by sources within the airline after finalizing all necessary arrangements.
The airline had previously reinstated its service to Jeddah on April 14 last year, following a five-year hiatus that began in 2018.
However, the outbreak of war in Sudan halted the flights. Consequently, Sudan Airways had signed a contract with Egypt’s Nile Air to operate the aircraft, which returned to Port Sudan late last year to conduct flights to Cairo and Muscat.
With the resumption of flights to Jeddah, Sudan Airways will expand its international destinations to three.
The airline’s management has also revealed plans to lease an Airbus aircraft to augment its existing fleet in response to the increasing number of flights.
In recent remarks, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed its deep concern over the escalating military tensions in El Fasher, North Darfur, calling on all parties involved in the Sudanese conflict to adhere to the outcomes of the Jeddah talks.
The statement was released today, Sunday, by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), emphasizing the urgency of reaching an agreement on a ceasefire and resolving the crisis through political dialogue to preserve the unity and security of the Sudanese Republic and its people.
The Kingdom‘s call for adherence to the Jeddah talks comes as the situation in Sudan grows increasingly volatile.
According to SPA, the Saudi-led initiative aims to accelerate the peace process in Sudan, emphasizing the benefits for the Sudanese people through prompt and effective conflict resolution.
