Slovakia’s Defense Ministry has conveyed to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg that the country will no longer provide Ukraine with weapons and ammunition.

This decision was disclosed during a meeting in Brussels between the Slovak Defense Minister, Robert Kalinak, and NATO’s Secretary-General, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.

During the meeting, the Slovak Defense Minister emphasized that the military aid previously provided to Ukraine from Slovak armed forces’ stockpiles has been suspended.

Despite this suspension, Slovakia will continue to supply Ukraine with a broad range of humanitarian assistance and technical support that does not pose any risk to human lives.

The government of Prime Minister Robert Fico, who assumed office on October 25, has chosen to halt the provision of official military aid to Ukraine.

However, private military contractors are not restricted from supplying weapons and ammunition to Kyiv.

This decision marks a shift in Slovakia’s approach to aiding Ukraine, as the country remains committed to providing non-lethal support while discontinuing the supply of military equipment from its state reserves.
