Heavy rainfall in the Moroccan regions of Tinghir, Ouarzazate, and Midelt has led to powerful floods, causing significant material damage and disruptions in daily life.
The Regional Directorate of Equipment and Water in the Drâa-Tafilalet region has urged road users to exercise caution. They emphasized the importance of adhering to safety instructions and avoiding areas known for frequent flooding. The authorities also advised drivers to avoid traveling during adverse weather conditions and to stay away from low-lying areas and watercourses.
According to the Moroccan news site “Kifache,” the floods in Tinghir have resulted in substantial material damage and agricultural losses.
The General Directorate of Meteorology had previously issued an orange alert, warning of expected thunderstorms with rainfall ranging between 15 and 25 millimeters, accompanied by hail and gusty winds. The warning covered several areas of the kingdom, including Ouarzazate, Azilal, Figuig, Boulemane, Errachidia, Midelt, and Tinghir.
These weather conditions were expected to occur between 5:30 PM and midnight.
