Iman bint Habas Al-Mutairi, Saudi Arabian Deputy Minister of Commerce and CEO of the National Competitiveness Center, highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in empowering and enhancing women’s participation in economic development.
This came during her participation in the event “Equal and Inclusive Representation of Women in Decision-Making Systems.”
The event, organized by the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva, in partnership with the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), under the joint sponsorship of the Permanent Missions of Denmark and the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Nations, took place on the sidelines of the 53rd session of the Human Rights Council, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Al-Mutairi addressed ambassadors and representatives of permanent missions in Geneva and representatives of United Nations organizations attending the event, emphasizing that Saudi Vision 2030 has framed the journey of economic transformation adopted by the Saudi government, under the guidance of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. One of its priorities is to increase and enhance women’s participation in all fields and at all levels in Saudi Arabia.
She further explained that Saudi women are at the core of the country’s transformation journey, and their participation in development is one of the targets of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to promote sustainable economic growth. Al-Mutairi pointed out that Saudi Arabia has implemented several supportive initiatives for women-related policies, contributing to the appointment of Saudi women to high-ranking positions, ministerial and executive roles, ambassadorships, and membership in the Shura Council.
