During the high-level week of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met with Mirjana Spoljaric, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), to discuss joint humanitarian and relief efforts.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the discussions also covered regional developments and their impact on humanitarian conditions, specifically the recent events in the Gaza Strip, and the efforts being made in response.
Saudi Arabia and Algeria reaffirmed their commitment to halting Israeli violations against the Palestinian people during a phone call on Saturday between the Saudi Prince and his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf.
The ministers discussed the escalating situation in Gaza, with both expressing deep concern over the continued Israeli actions, which have led to widespread violence and suffering.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, both leaders emphasized the importance of intensifying joint coordination between Arab and international partners to mobilize efforts against Israel’s ongoing military escalation.
The health ministry in Gaza reported that the death toll in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants has reached at least 41,431 people as of Sunday.
This includes 40 deaths in the past 24 hours, with nearly 95,818 people wounded since the war began following Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7.
Many victims remain trapped under rubble, and emergency services are facing difficulties in rescue efforts due to continuous airstrikes.
The bombardment has persisted for 352 days, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and causing severe damage to Gaza’s infrastructure.
