Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan asserted that there can be no normalization of ties with Israel without resolving the Palestinian issue.
In an interview with CNN, he said: “That’s the only way we’re going to get the benefit. So, yes, because we need stability and only stability will come through resolving the Palestinian issue.”
The minister also affirmed that de-escalation of the conflict in Gaza and halting civilian deaths is a key focus of Saudi Arabia.
“What we are seeing is the Israelis are crushing Gaza, the civilian population of Gaza,” he stated. “This is completely unnecessary, completely unacceptable and has to stop.”
In previous remarks during the World Economic Forum in Davos, the prince stressed the pressing need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the connection between the war in Gaza and escalating tensions in the Red Sea.
The official voiced the Kingdom’s concerns about the broader security implications in the Red Sea region, emphasizing the priority of reducing the current escalation.
“The attacks in the Red Sea are related to the war in Gaza. We do not see any sign of stopping the war and escalation on the part of Israel. Our priority is to find a path to reduce the escalation, and this depends on stopping the war in Gaza,” he stated.
