Upon the arrival of the ministerial committee assigned by the Arab Islamic Summit in the Chinese capital Beijing, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In his statements on Monday during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, the Saudi minister stressed the importance of increasing aid deliveries to the densely populated Palestinian coastal enclave, which has been under a strict Israeli blockade since October 7th.
He warned of a looming humanitarian disaster in Gaza and urged the international community to take responsibility to halt Israeli aggressions. Similarly, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry considered the declared policy of displacing Palestinians from Gaza as a red line for Egypt and the Arab world, emphasizing that such displacement would threaten peace and stability in the region and the world.
Shoukry also pointed out that Israel’s policy of hindering aid to Gaza is systematic and aims to force Palestinians to leave the area under the pressure of bombardment and siege. He called for a more robust role from major powers like China to stop the assaults against Palestinians.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki stated, “We came to Beijing to discuss the brutal crimes committed by the Israelis against the Palestinian people,” stressing that Israel’s actions violate the two-state solution.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi confirmed China’s full support for the two-state solution as called for by the recent Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He added that the international community must now act and take effective measures to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
The ministerial committee, including the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, arrived in Beijing earlier today to formulate international action to stop the Israeli war on Gaza.
The committee’s tour aims to take deterrent actions to stop the crimes of the colonial occupation authorities and hold them accountable for their crimes in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank, as stated by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Moreover, the committee seeks to secure urgent relief corridors and initiate a serious political process, pressing for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
