Saudi Arabia’s Public Health Authority “Weqaya” has confirmed that no cases of monkeypox (Mpox) have been detected in Saudi Arabia so far, despite the increasing global spread of the virus, as recently highlighted by the World Health Organisation’s declaration of a global health emergency.

Weqaya emphasised that Saudi Arabia’s robust and effective healthcare system is well-prepared to handle various health risks.

The Kingdom has implemented all necessary preventive measures to strengthen surveillance and prevent the spread of the virus, ensuring the health and safety of both citizens and residents.

The authority also pointed out the implementation of preventive measures, awareness campaigns, epidemiological investigations, and responses to infectious diseases with epidemic potential, to effectively address any potential outbreak.

Weqaya urged the public to rely on information from official sources and avoid unverified rumors. The authority also advised against traveling to countries where monkeypox cases have been reported.
