The Saudi Foreign Ministry affirmed on Wednesday that the Kingdom’s position on the Palestinian issue remains steadfast, stressing the need for the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights.
In a statement, the Ministry said: “In light of the ongoing discussions between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States regarding the Arab-Israeli peace process, and in response to the statements made by the US National Security Council spokesperson on this matter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the Kingdom’s position on the Palestinian issue has always been and remains steadfast, and that the Palestinian people must obtain their legitimate rights.”
The Kingdom reiterated its call on the international community, particularly the permanent members of the UN Security Council that have not yet recognized the Palestinian state, to urgently recognize the Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
This, the statement said, would enable the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate rights and bring about comprehensive and just peace for all.
