Saudi Arabia has achieved remarkable success in its tourism sector, claiming the second spot globally for tourist arrivals during the initial seven months of 2023. According to data from the Ministry of Tourism, the Kingdom experienced an impressive 58% growth in tourist numbers from January to July 2023 compared to the same period in 2019.

The information is derived from the UNWTO World Tourism Barometer, a publication by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) released in September 2023. This accomplishment underscores Saudi Arabia’s ongoing success in the tourism industry, solidifying its position as a global leader in this sector.

Riyadh played host to World Tourism Day on September 27-28, contributing to the Kingdom’s efforts to promote tourism and showcase its diverse attractions. Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb attributed this achievement to the unwavering support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The substantial increase in tourist arrivals reflects the growing confidence that travelers have in the diverse and high-quality tourism offerings available in Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom’s status as a global tourist destination continues to strengthen, marking a positive trend for its tourism industry.
