At least 44 people were killed and dozens injured on Sunday in a suicide bombing during a political rally supporting the Taliban movement in northwest Pakistan, officials reported.
Scenes from the bombing site shared on social media showed bodies strewn around the explosion site while volunteers helped to transport blood-covered victims to ambulances.
The bombing coincided with an anticipated visit of a high-ranking Chinese delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister He Lifeng, expected to arrive in the capital Sunday evening.
