The Saudi Ministry of Health confirmed on Saturday that there have been no new cases of food poisoning in the last five days.
This announcement follows a recent outbreak that resulted in a total of 75 reported cases, affecting 69 Saudi nationals and six foreign residents.
According to the Ministry, 50 of these cases were identified as botulism food poisoning. Out of these, 43 individuals have successfully recovered and were discharged from the hospital. The remaining patients include 11 in regular wards, 20 in intensive care, and one reported death.
The source of the outbreak has been traced back to a single food source. The Ministry highlighted that through collaborative efforts with other government agencies, the situation has been effectively managed and contained.
Health officials are continuing to oversee and provide care for those still hospitalized and have extended their hopes for a quick recovery for all patients. Additionally, the Ministry has appealed to the public to seek information from official sources and cautioned against the spread of misinformation, noting that measures have been taken to prevent further incidents.
