Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, has expressed the kingdom’s strong opposition to the double standards in dealing with the Gaza conflict, urging an immediate ceasefire in the region and calling on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities.
During his speech at the 55th session of the Human Rights Council, the Saudi Foreign Minister highlighted the severe human rights violations faced by the people of Gaza.
He also warned of the catastrophic consequences of any Israeli attack on Rafah and emphasized the importance of the Human Rights Council having the appropriate tools to achieve its goals.
The conflict escalated on October 7th, when Hamas fighters launched an attack on southern Israel, resulting in 1,160 casualties, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli data.
In response, Israel vowed to “eliminate” Hamas and initiated a major offensive in Gaza, leading to 29,789 deaths to date, with the vast majority being women and children, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.
This statement from Saudi Arabia underscores the urgent need for international intervention and a balanced approach to resolve the ongoing crisis in Gaza, ensuring the protection of human rights for all involved parties.
