Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, held a phone conversation with his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, to discuss the latest developments in Palestine.

The call, reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), focused on the ongoing situation in the Palestinian territories and the efforts of Arab and Islamic nations to ensure the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

During their discussion, the two ministers emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts to halt Israeli occupation forces’ violations of international and humanitarian laws.

The conversation underscored the necessity for Arab and Islamic unity in addressing the ongoing crisis and supporting the Palestinian cause.

The call between the Saudi and Algerian foreign ministers comes at a time of heightened tensions and ongoing violence in the Palestinian territories.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, one of the most protracted and contentious disputes in modern history, has seen renewed violence in recent months, particularly in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Saudi Arabia and Algeria have long been vocal supporters of the Palestinian cause, consistently advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Both countries have condemned Israeli settlement activities in the West Bank and the blockade of Gaza, viewing them as significant obstacles to peace.

In recent years, the Saudi government has played a more active role in regional diplomacy, seeking to mediate conflicts and foster stability across the Middle East.

However, its approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict remains rooted in the Arab Peace Initiative, which calls for normalized relations between Arab countries and Israel in exchange for a full Israeli withdrawal from the occupied territories and a “just settlement” of the Palestinian refugee issue.

As tensions in the region persist, the collaboration between Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and other Arab and Islamic nations continues to be crucial in advocating for Palestinian rights on the international stage.
