Media reports have stated that Saudi Airlines has suspended its operations to domestic airports in the northern region of the kingdom, close to the current areas of tension. Some flights were delayed, and others, which had departed from Riyadh to Al Qurayyat near Jordan, were forced to return following the suspension decision, according to Al Arabiya Net on Sunday.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed in a statement earlier today its “deep concern over the military escalation developments in the region and the dangerous implications,” urging “all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to spare the region and its people the risks of war,” as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The ministry emphasized Saudi Arabia’s stance that the United Nations Security Council must take responsibility for maintaining international peace and security, especially in this highly sensitive area which is crucial for global peace and security, and to prevent the crisis from worsening, which could have severe consequences if it expands.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed the launch of a significant number of drones towards Israel. In a statement released today, it announced that its response to Israeli actions had begun, using cruise missiles and drones launched from deep within Iranian territory.

The recent Iranian attacks against Israel come in the wake of escalating tensions, marked notably by an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Damascus on April 1, 2024. This strike resulted in the deaths of several Iranian officials, including two senior IRGC generals. This event has significantly heightened the stakes in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

Following this, Iran launched a significant number of drones towards Israel, indicating a direct and robust military response to Israeli actions. The Iranian response included the use of cruise missiles and drones, signaling a severe escalation in the conflict.

In addition to these military actions, there’s a broader context of increasing military activities and rhetoric. Iran’s supreme leader has called for retaliatory actions against Israel, reflecting a hardened stance against what Iran perceives as aggressive moves by Israel and its Western allies.
