Oleg Ignatiev, Deputy Head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, reported that aircraft and drones from the U.S.-led international coalition carried out 13 unauthorized incursions into Syrian airspace over the Al-Tanf area within the past 24 hours.
In statements reported by the Russian news agency TASS, Ignatiev stated, “In the Al-Tanf area, 13 violations of the airspace of the Syrian Arab Republic were recorded by the coalition using F-15 fighter jets, a pair of Rafale fighter jets, a pair of Typhoon fighter jets, two pairs of Thunderbolt attack aircraft, and a multipurpose MQ-1C unmanned aerial vehicle within the past 24 hours.”
The Russian military official added, “Additionally, seven violations of the deconfliction protocols, agreed upon on December 9, 2019, regarding uncoordinated drone flights with the Russian side, were recorded over the past day.”
Ignatiev also noted that four shelling attacks were recorded, carried out by terrorist groups banned in Russia, targeting Syrian soldiers’ positions in the Idlib de-escalation zone within the past 24 hours.
