Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of Rosatom, disclosed during a work meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Rosatom is contemplating the targeted supply of complete motors for electric vehicles.
Likhachev stated, “These are electric propulsion motors. As I informed you, we are constructing a factory in Kaliningrad. We’ve agreed with Moscow, thanks to the mayor, Sergey Semyonovich, to establish a similar factory.”
He added, “We take electric propulsion very seriously and consider supplying a full electric motor, which includes an electric engine, gearbox, and inverter.”
Likhachev pointed out the “tremendous growth” in Rosatom’s shipments of new products. He said, “Last year we approached 800 billion rubles. We couldn’t even dream of such a figure, but now it has become a reality.”
The development of new products for Russian and international markets is one of Rosatom’s strategic objectives. This direction offers new opportunities for the development of medicine, urban infrastructure, improving environmental safety, and other significant areas. According to Rosatom’s strategy, by 2030, the share of new products in its revenue should reach 40%.
It’s worth noting that Rosatom is a global leader in providing high-performance solutions for all types of nuclear power plants. It has built over 120 research reactors both in and outside Russia and holds the top spot in electric power generation in Russia (around 203 billion kilowatt-hours). It also ranks first globally in its engagement in foreign nuclear projects. Russia holds the world’s second-largest uranium reserves and ranks fourth in its extraction.
