Ezzat al-Rishq, a leader in the Palestinian movement Hamas, has stated that Qatar will be the one to announce the details of the much-anticipated ceasefire agreement with Israel. This revelation is expected to come to light in the coming hours, adding a significant development in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Al-Rishq, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, made these comments during an interview with Al Jazeera on Tuesday. “The matter now rests with our brothers in Qatar, and they will announce the ceasefire agreement with Israel and its details,” he said.
He further added, “The details of the anticipated ceasefire agreement will be disclosed in the next few hours,” as reported by the Anadolu Agency.
According to al-Rishq, the agreement involves a ceasefire in exchange for the entry of aid and the release of a mutually agreed number of prisoners, including women and children, from Israeli jails. He emphasized that the agreement, once announced, would be acceptable and satisfactory, reflecting the unified demands of the resistance both in the field and politically.
“There was communication between Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s political bureau, and Ziad al-Nakhala, the Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, before we delivered our response to the mediators. The ceasefire agreement will include everyone,” al-Rishq elaborated.
He also noted that the Israeli side, particularly under Netanyahu, had been stalling and trying to negotiate amid aggression to break the resistance, an effort that he claimed would never succeed.
Meanwhile, Barak Ravid, a correspondent for the American news site Axios, reported via his account on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter) that Qatar might announce the prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas as early as Tuesday. The source hoped that nothing on the ground in Gaza would jeopardize this development.
This announcement from Qatar, if confirmed, could mark a significant turning point in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. The region has seen repeated cycles of violence, and a successful ceasefire could pave the way for more stable and peaceful relations. The involvement of Qatar in mediating this agreement highlights the country’s growing diplomatic influence in the Middle East, particularly in resolving complex conflicts. The international community is closely watching these developments, hopeful for a reduction in tensions and a step towards lasting peace in the region.
