The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Doha on Tuesday regarding the ongoing situation in Gaza.
The Amiri Diwan of Qatar stated in a press release that Sheikh Tamim welcomed the Iranian Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation at his office in the Lusail Palace earlier today.
The meeting focused on reviewing bilateral relations between the two countries and exploring ways to support and enhance these ties. Additionally, there was an exchange of views on key regional and international issues, particularly the developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
Abdollahian had met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, on Monday. The Qatari Foreign Minister reiterated Qatar’s call for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians in Gaza, and the unimpeded continuation of humanitarian aid flow during their meeting.
Recently, the Qatari Foreign Ministry urged the United Nations Security Council for urgent action to prevent an Israeli military invasion of Rafah in southern Gaza Strip and to avert a potential massacre in the city.
For over four months, Israel has waged a devastating war on Gaza, resulting in 28,473 deaths and 68,146 injuries as of Tuesday, according to the health ministry in the enclave, with the majority of victims being children and women.
