The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has emphasized the need for a permanent ceasefire, civilian protection, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.

During discussions on Wednesday in Doha with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Emir stressed the importance of finding solutions that ensure the establishment of two states in accordance with international and UN resolutions.

The talks between Sheikh Tamim and Steinmeier focused on key regional and international developments, primarily the situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

They also discussed ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between Qatar and Germany.

Following the discussions, the Emir of Qatar, via the platform “X”, stated that his talks with the German President centered on investment and energy cooperation between their countries.

Both leaders underscored the necessity of resuming a comprehensive peace process in the Middle East, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Qatar has played a pivotal role in achieving a temporary ceasefire between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

Qatar announced an extension of the humanitarian truce in Gaza for an additional two days, with Hamas confirming that the extension would follow the same conditions as the previous truce.

According to press reports citing informed sources, CIA Director William Burns arrived in Qatar on Tuesday to discuss the possibilities of reaching an expanded deal between Hamas and Israel.
