Tensions escalate in occupied Jerusalem as a Palestinian woman suffered injuries from shots fired by Israeli forces, following accusations of her attempting a stabbing operation.
According to Israeli media, security personnel discharged their weapons at a Palestinian female suspect, who was allegedly attempting a stabbing near the high-speed train station on Haim Bar-Lev Street in Jerusalem.
The reports indicate that the woman, who was shot near the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem, has sustained moderate injuries to her lower limbs.
This incident comes on the heels of a multi-faceted attack in Tel Aviv just last Tuesday, where a combination of a car-ramming, stabbing, and shooting incident resulted in six Israelis getting injured. The Israeli police have reported the perpetrator was neutralized, labeling the car-ramming event as a “terrorist attack.”
These unfolding events occur amidst heightened tensions in the West Bank, specifically in the city of Jenin and its refugee camp, which recently witnessed the most significant Israeli military operation in two decades. Israeli fighter jets and drones executed a broad-scale bombing operation on the camp in the northern occupied West Bank last week.
This operation marked an unprecedented raid by special Israeli military forces into the camp, a level of escalation not seen in 20 years, Israeli media sources claim.
The assault, which the Israeli army asserts was aimed at Palestinian militants and workshops producing weapons and explosives, resulted in the death of nine Palestinians, injury to a hundred others, and the arrest of an additional twenty.
Reacting to the escalating violence, the Palestinian Authority has announced a cessation of all security coordination and communication with Israel.
