Azzam al-Ahmad, a member of both the Executive Committees of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Fatah, announced that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, also known as Abu Mazen, will soon extend invitations to the general secretaries of various Palestinian factions to attend an emergency meeting in Cairo.
Al-Ahmad emphasized in statements to Voice of Palestine radio on Thursday that the Hamas leadership had initiated a campaign to hinder the convening of the meeting, as reported by the official Palestinian news agency Wafa.
He clarified that the attempt by some mercenaries affiliated with Hamas to insult the Fatah leadership during the funeral of martyrs in the Jenin camp aligns with their approach of undermining and shedding Palestinian blood.
Al-Ahmad added that all four members of Fatah’s Central Committee attended the entire funeral of the martyrs. He further noted that opposition to some divisive slogans during Deputy Fatah Chairman Mahmoud Al-Aloul’s speech was met with opposition from the majority of participants.
A large crowd of Palestinians, on Wednesday, solemnly laid to rest the bodies of nine martyrs who fell under Israeli occupation forces’ fire during the recent aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp.
The funeral procession, which included Deputy Fatah Chairman Mahmoud Al-Aloul, member of both the Executive Committees of the PLO and Fatah Azzam al-Ahmad, member of the Executive Committee and Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine Wasel Abu Youssef, as well as members of the Revolutionary Council, movement secretaries in northern provinces, and various national and societal figures from different provinces, marched in condemnation of Israeli crimes, calling for national unity, international intervention, and the protection of the helpless people subjected to ongoing Israeli aggression, extrajudicial killings, and daily massacres.
Comprehensive strikes and mourning were observed to honor the martyrs and condemn the occupation’s crimes and aggression.
The martyrs laid to rest in the Jenin camp were Sameh Firas Abu al-Wafa, Husam Muhammad Abu Zaidah, Aws Hani al-Hanoun, Nour al-Din Husam Marshoud, Muhammad Muhand al-Shami, Ahmad al-Amer, Majdi Ara’ra, Ali Hani al-Ghoul, and Mustafa Nidal al-Qasim.

The aggression also caused extensive damage to the camp’s infrastructure, as well as severe destruction of homes and properties belonging to civilians.
