Palestinian National Council Condemns Youth’s Execution

The city of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, situated in the central occupied West Bank, observed a comprehensive strike on Saturday, mourning the tragic death of the young Palestinian, Mohammed Jabril Ramana, who was fatally shot the previous night by Israeli occupation forces in Jabal al-Tawil in Al-Bireh city, adjacent to Ramallah.

The strike encapsulated all facets of daily and commercial life, involving public and private sectors, and extending to educational institutions throughout the province.

According to reports, Israeli forces opened fire towards a vehicle that was being driven by Ramana and another young man, near the “Psagot” settlement, erected on the lands of Jabal al-Tawil, Al-Bireh city. The latter young man, also wounded by gunfire, was arrested by the Israeli forces.

In the light of this, the Palestinian National Council vehemently condemned the execution of Ramana and placed full responsibility upon the Israeli extreme right-wing government for the heinous crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

In a press statement, the council mentioned, “We are accustomed to the occupation’s false narrative and its justifications for the executions and killings of Palestinian civilians,” pointing out that the international community’s silence on the occupation’s crimes emboldens them to perpetrate further atrocities against Palestinians.

Simultaneously, another Palestinian youth was wounded by Israeli occupation forces’ gunfire in the city center of Jericho during confrontations with the forces in the city, located to the east of the West Bank. Palestinian medical sources reported that the youth, shot in the leg, was transferred to a city hospital to receive necessary treatment.

The Palestinian territories, notably the West Bank, have witnessed a protracted conflict and various human rights abuses, largely stemming from the longstanding Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The tensions between Israelis and Palestinians in these territories have endured for decades, oscillating between periods of relative calm and outbreaks of violence.

Actions by Israeli forces, like the aforementioned execution of Mohammed Jabril Ramana, often ignite widespread protests and strikes across Palestinian territories, representing a collective expression of grief, anger, and resistance against the Israeli occupation.

Palestinians in various cities, including Ramallah, periodically observe strikes and engage in confrontations with Israeli forces as a form of protest against the ongoing occupation and in response to specific tragic incidents that periodically occur.
