The spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense, Mahmoud Basal, confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces are targeting all shelter centers in the Gaza Strip, noting that approximately nine schools have been bombed since the beginning of August.
In an interview with Ten TV on Tuesday, Basal stated that the Palestinian people are living in a dire situation, with the occupation forces targeting a large number of people, resulting in hundreds of casualties and daily injuries. He pointed out the significant challenges in recovering the bodies of martyrs from under the rubble.
The spokesperson called for the urgent delivery of equipment to the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the health situation and the state of hospitals are dire and deteriorating, which severely hampers the protection and aid of Palestinian citizens.
Basal also mentioned that a large number of people have yet to be reached, with the death toll currently standing at 10,000, and search efforts are still ongoing. He explained that nearly 80% of the Civil Defense’s equipment has been destroyed due to the continuous bombardment by the occupation forces on the Gaza Strip.
He emphasized the necessity of rehabilitating the infrastructure in Gaza, as the Israeli army continues to destroy a large amount of equipment. Furthermore, Basal added that the Israeli occupation forces are preventing the arrival of any aid intended for the Civil Defense in Gaza, leaving citizens to suffer from Israeli intransigence.
