The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates issued a statement on Friday, urging the imposition of sanctions on the Israeli government.

The call comes in response to what Palestine perceives as the Israeli government’s failure to protect civilians and provide for their needs, as mandated by international law.

In the statement released today, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry emphasized that without such measures, the international community continues to witness repeated failures, diminishing its credibility and, in essence, becoming complicit in the plight of the Palestinian people.

The ministry asserted that the global community must act decisively, as demonstrated by the tragic incident on Rashid Street. It pointed out that after the horrifying massacre, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated his distorted narrative about a war of extermination, acknowledging international pressure and deliberately undermining it. The statement highlighted the deliberate neglect of the Israeli government in protecting Palestinian civilians and securing their humanitarian needs.

The Foreign Ministry condemned the dangerous consequences of the military escalation and the deliberate targeting of civilians, affirming Egypt’s strong condemnation of such actions as clear violations of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.

Regarding the recent massacre on Rashid Street, the ministry stated that Netanyahu, in acknowledging international pressure, intentionally fails to address the protection and humanitarian needs of Palestinian civilians. Notably, he completely disregards the reality of the massacre committed against isolated civilians already weakened by hunger and thirst due to his discriminatory decisions.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry concluded by asserting that Netanyahu’s disregard for the lives of more than 100 Palestinians, resulting in fatalities and injuries, echoes the dehumanizing language used by Israeli officials in describing the Palestinian people. It stressed that such neglect mirrors a deep-seated hatred, racism, and vengeance in the Israeli occupation’s treatment of the Palestinian population and its denial of their right to life.

The ministry urged the international community to impose sanctions on Israel to hold it accountable for its actions, particularly its failure to ensure the safety and well-being of Palestinian civilians.
