Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif embarked on his first foreign trip since assuming office for the second consecutive term, arriving in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Saturday for a three-day visit.
Upon his arrival at the airport, the premier was warmly welcomed by Madina Governor Prince Salman bin Sultan Al Saud. He will spend the night in Madina before commencing his official engagements on Sunday.
Accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz are key ministers including those for foreign affairs, defence, economic affairs, finance, and information, as reported by state-run Radio Pakistan. Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is also part of the delegation, having departed earlier with him from Allama Iqbal International Airport via a commercial flight.
During a press conference held in Lahore earlier today, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar highlighted that this visit marks Prime Minister Shehbaz’s inaugural foreign trip since assuming office.
The agenda of the visit includes a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss bilateral matters and regional and global developments. Prime Minister Shehbaz will also perform Umrah and offer prayers at Masjid-i-Nabwi during his stay in the kingdom.
A press release from the Foreign Office issued on Friday emphasized the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, rooted in religious and cultural affinity. It underlined the commitment of both leaderships to enhance these ties further and strengthen economic and investment relations.
Earlier, on March 16, Prime Minister Shehbaz had expressed Pakistan’s dedication to elevating the historic ties with Saudi Arabia into a comprehensive strategic partnership, emphasizing close cooperation between the two nations.
