In a notable announcement made on Wednesday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has designated Morocco as the host country for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Meanwhile, the joint bid of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda has been approved to organize the 2027 edition of the tournament.

CAF granted the prestigious task of organizing the 2025 Africa Cup to Morocco, while the trio of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda clinched the honor for the 2027 edition.

This will be the second time in history that Morocco will host the continental finals. The country first played host to the event in 1988, with Cameroon emerging as the champions. The decision comes after Algeria withdrew its candidacy for the 2025 edition on Tuesday, followed by a joint bid withdrawal from Nigeria and Benin on Wednesday.

The combined proposal by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania surpassed competing bids from Senegal, who were the champions of the most recent edition in 2021, and Botswana.
The Africa Cup of Nations is one of the most prestigious football tournaments on the African continent. With its origins in 1957, it has grown in stature and popularity, reflecting the passion for football that exists throughout Africa.

The selection of host nations is always a topic of great interest, as it not only boosts the country’s international profile but also has significant economic implications. Morocco’s selection for 2025 marks its return as a continental host after decades, while the joint hosting by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in 2027 highlights the growing trend of collaborative efforts in organizing such mega-events. This announcement sets the stage for two enthralling tournaments that fans are eagerly awaiting.
