Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the “Mile Final Forum” will convene next Sunday as part of the COP28 events.
The forum, in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will gather global health sector leaders.
It aims to announce new commitments and partnerships supporting health amidst climate change.
His Highness Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the Presidential Affairs Office’s Development and Families of Martyrs Affairs, overseeing the “Mile Final” initiative, emphasized the importance of including health as a key element in the climate action agenda.
He mentioned that climate change threatens decades of progress in human health, impacting lives globally and hindering disease prevention efforts.
The UAE, led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, plays a crucial role in protecting global health gains against climate change impacts.
The Sheikh looks forward to collaborating with partners at the forum to explore new solutions, exchange ideas, and respond to COP28’s call for tangible commitments towards a healthier future.
The “Mile Final” initiative, active in funding global efforts to eradicate polio, malaria, and neglected tropical diseases, regularly organizes significant international events like this forum.
It will feature a lineup of influential speakers and decision-makers, including senior officials from the UAE and global health leaders.
The list of speakers includes prominent UAE representatives such as His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; along with Dr. Maha Barakat, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Health Affairs.
