Tensions surrounding the Israel-Hamas conflict have erupted on US university campuses, resulting in the arrest of more than 500 pro-Palestinian demonstrators.
Clashes with law enforcement have occurred as protesters demand their universities sever ties with Israel and companies supporting its actions in Gaza.
Protesters, aligned with the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement, advocate for divestment from entities linked to Israel.
However, identifying these connections proves challenging due to complex investment portfolios and underreported foreign funding.
Despite this, around 100 US colleges have disclosed receiving approximately $375 million from Israel over two decades.
In response, pro-Israel counter protests have emerged, with some Jewish students expressing concerns about antisemitism and their safety on campus amid escalating tensions.
