Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim equated the devastation in the Gaza Strip resulting from Israeli bombings to the catastrophic destruction of Hiroshima by an American atomic bomb during World War II.
During a joint press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida following a meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Ibrahim remarked, “The damage inflicted by the bombs in Gaza has surpassed the destruction of Hiroshima during the Second World War,” as reported by Russia Today.
The Malaysian Prime Minister extended his gratitude to his Japanese counterpart for his commitment to supporting peace in the region and for providing humanitarian aid.
It is noteworthy that Malaysia has consistently supported Palestine and condemned the Israeli strikes on Gaza.
The Malaysian Foreign Ministry has strongly denounced the Israeli raid on the Jabalia refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, which, according to the Palestinian Interior Ministry, resulted in the death of over 400 people. The Malaysian side has described this attack as deliberate.
The statement from the Malaysian leadership underscores the country’s ongoing advocacy for Palestinian rights and its condemnation of the violence affecting the region.
This latest development highlights Malaysia’s stance on the international stage, as it continues to call for peace and humanitarian efforts amidst the ongoing conflicts.
Israeli Minister of Heritage Amichai Eliyahu has said that in the ongoing war with the Hamas terrorist group, “one of the possible options” for Israel is dropping a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip.
A member of the Otzma Yehudit party in Israel, Eliyahu made these statements during a radio interview.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lambasted Eliyahu for his comments, saying those are “not based in reality”.
Calling Gaza residents “Nazis”, Eliyahu also objected to the passage of humanitarian aid to the Strip. He said that there is “no such thing” as unassociated civilians in the Gaza Strip, indicating that everyone residing in the strife-torn region is in one or another connected with Hamas.
