London Mayor Sadiq Khan, a prominent figure within the British Labour Party, has called for an immediate cessation of British arms sales to Israel. According to The Guardian, Khan stressed that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak should halt the arms trade with Israel forthwith.
This demand from the Mayor of London comes as other notable Labour Party figures urge the government to take action against Israel following an attack that resulted in the death of seven aid workers in Gaza, including three British nationals.
Margaret Beckett, former Foreign Office Minister under Prime Minister Tony Blair, echoed this sentiment. She stated that the British government must stop arms sales to Israel due to the risk of their use after the Israeli attack on aid workers.
The calls for action represent a significant push from within the UK’s political landscape to reassess its military and diplomatic relationship with Israel amid ongoing concerns about the impact of its military actions on civilians and humanitarian efforts in conflict zones.
