The Municipal Council in Misrata, Libya, in collaboration with the Libyan Red Crescent Society, is finalizing preparations to dispatch an aid ship to the Gaza Strip, marking the city’s first humanitarian mission to deliver essential assistance to the Palestinian people.
On Saturday, the Council issued a call for contributions to support Gaza’s residents through donations of both goods and funds at the campaign headquarters located at the city’s fairgrounds on Clinics Complex Street. The deadline for donations to the convoy is set for next Monday at 8:00 PM.
In December, Misrata municipality reported the successful arrival of Libyan humanitarian aid to Gaza despite the challenges posed by the blockade and airstrikes imposed by the Zionist regime. The aid distribution included 405 food baskets distributed across several locations in the northern Gaza Strip, including Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, and Yarmouk Street.
Earlier in November, data from the Egyptian Red Crescent Society highlighted Libya’s significant contribution to humanitarian aid for Gaza, ranking second in terms of the volume of aid provided. Libya’s total tonnage reached 546.9 tons, following Egypt, which supplied 6,944 tons of aid.
