Libya’s Ambassador to Turkey, Mustafa Al-Ghaleb, participated in a meeting held at the Turkish Foreign Ministry with a delegation from the Libyan High Council of State led by Omar Al-Obaidi, and the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ahmet Yildiz.
The discussions focused on the Libyan political scene and ways to advance the political process towards general elections, with an emphasis on Turkey playing a more significant role in bringing Libyan factions together for dialogue to end political and institutional divisions.
The meeting also addressed the issue of lifting Turkish visa requirements for Libyans to ease travel between the two countries, as stated by Al-Ghaleb.
Furthermore, the possibility of resuming Turkish Airlines flights to Libya was reviewed, following the evaluation of technical reports from specialized committees from both countries.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu earlier announced that his country has decided to reopen its consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi soon.
Yilmaz affirmed his approval for the Turkish Industries Exhibition, which was inaugurated on Monday in the city of Benghazi. He referred to the event as a significant step toward establishing a deserving place for Turkish companies in Eastern Libya.
The ambassador further expressed confidence in the Libyan economy, demonstrating Turkey’s equal support for all its regions.
In previous remarks, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to resolving current issues by supporting the territorial integrity of friendly nations and engaging with relevant parties.
