Head of the Libyan High Council of State Mohamed Takala, met on Tuesday, with Qatar’s Ambassador to Libya Khaled Al-Dosari at the council’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli.

According to the council’s media office, the meeting discussed the latest political developments in Libya and Qatar’s efforts to reconcile political parties within the framework of the United Nations, aiming to propel the political process towards a sound democratic path for conducting fair national elections that meet the aspirations of the Libyan people and contribute to achieving stability.

The media office further stated that the two parties discussed enhancing cooperation between the two countries in various fields to serve their mutual interests.

Libya has been grappling with political instability and conflict since the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011.

The country has been divided between rival governments and armed groups, leading to violence, humanitarian crises, and economic challenges.

Various international actors have been involved in Libya, including neighboring countries like Qatar, seeking to support peace efforts and stabilize the country. Qatar has been engaged diplomatically and financially in Libya, supporting reconciliation initiatives and providing humanitarian aid.

This meeting between Libyan and Qatari officials highlights ongoing efforts to address the political challenges facing Libya and move towards a peaceful and democratic future.
