In a pivotal meeting, Mohamed El-Hweij, Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade for the outgoing Government of National Unity, sat down with the Japanese Ambassador to Libya.
The discussions culminated in a consensus to draft a memorandum of understanding aimed at safeguarding investors’ rights in both nations.
During this significant gathering, El-Hweij assured that his ministry would provide all necessary facilitations for Japanese companies and investors eager to explore various regions across the African country.
The parties deliberated on methods to bolster commercial and economic ties, with a particular focus on clean energy and the development of industrial and free zones.
Highlighting the importance of skill and knowledge exchange, plans were also laid to potentially establish a Libyan-Japanese center for training and consultancy in Libya.
Moreover, the Japanese Ambassador expressed his country’s desire to enhance economic cooperation and increase trade exchanges between the business communities of the two countries.
A highlight of the collaboration is the scheduling of a Libyan-Japanese economic forum in Tripoli next year, which will witness participation from private sector representatives from both countries, further cementing the growing partnership.
Sabha Airport in Libya announced the resumption of flights on Wednesday after completing a comprehensive inspection of all airport systems and installing lighting in all sections.
Today, the airport is scheduled to receive an Afriqiyah Airways flight from Benina Airport and will also see a departure to Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria, Egypt.
The resumption of flights is part of efforts by the Airports Authority to improve the airport’s infrastructure, thereby increasing its capacity to handle more international flights and facilitating air transport between the southern region of Libya and international destinations.
