A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked between the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce in a strategic move to solidify the trade strategy and enhance commercial ties between the private sectors of Libya and Italy.

The accord also aims to facilitate the mobility of business owners and streamline the transport of goods and services through ports.

The signing ceremony was conducted at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture in Tripoli.

Notable participants included Anwar Abusta, President of the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce representing the Libyan side, and Nicola Colicchio, representing the Italian side.

Italy’s Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Brini, Commercial Attaché Jacomo Grandisso, and Luigi Dabria, Head of the Italian Economic Centre, were also present during the event.

A statement released by the Ministry of Economy and Trade and shared on Facebook detailed that the MoU is the culmination of discussions between Libyan and Italian parties.

The discussions included organizing meetings and joint economic seminars supervised by the Ministry of Economy and Trade to exchange information and studies on local markets.

Anwar Abusta emphasized the chamber’s pivotal role in endorsing and enhancing the activities of the private sector. The chamber plans to hold regular meetings with business owners and companies operating in both countries.

The aim is to identify challenges and impediments affecting the movement of trade activities and services and work on resolving them in coordination with relevant entities.

This bilateral agreement is poised to open new doors for both nations, contributing to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and making strides in facilitating the movements of entrepreneurs and the transit of goods and services between ports.
