The Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has strongly condemned and expressed its absolute rejection of the despicable act of burning a copy of the Holy Quran by an extremist outside the Libyan embassy in Denmark.

In an official statement released on Friday, the Foreign Ministry held the Danish authorities accountable for their role in damaging the bilateral relations between the two nations.

The Ministry emphasized that such provocative actions not only harm the Libyan people but also offend Muslims worldwide.

It accused the Danish authorities of neglecting to address hate crimes and incitement carried out by extremist terrorists with the intention of disrespecting Islam and Muslims.

Furthermore, the Ministry asserted that Libya cannot tolerate any justification that portrays this reprehensible act as a form of free expression.

It cautioned against the recurrence of such hostile and offensive activities targeting the sentiments and sanctities of Muslims across the globe, particularly in front of the Libyan Embassy in Copenhagen.

The statement concluded by indicating that the repetition of such incidents may force Libya to reconsider the continuation of diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries.
