Lebanon has initiated preparations in vital facilities across Beirut, Sidon, Tripoli, and its airports in anticipation of the possibility of war. As part of these emergency measures, a cabinet session was convened to discuss wartime contingencies, chaired by the caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
During this session, the cabinet approved a disaster management plan proposed by the Ministries of Public Works and Transportation and Health, according to Lebanon 24.
Mikati stressed his commitment to diplomatic efforts to clarify Lebanon’s stance and urged friendly nations to pressure against Israeli aggressions and to prevent the escalation of hostilities into Lebanese territory.
He called upon all Lebanese citizens, including officials, leaders, and individuals, to unite their efforts and positions to navigate through this challenging phase, emphasizing continued work with all available resources to fortify the domestic situation against unfolding events.
Minister of Transportation and Public Works Ali Hamieh stated, “These measures and plans underscore the importance of sustaining operations in these facilities, which necessitates their financial management by the Cabinet. This should be swift, flexible, and efficient, grounded in legal principles approved by the Cabinet, to ensure a prompt response to any developments that may occur in the country.”
Simultaneously, Israel’s Ministry of Defense announced an evacuation plan for residents of the Kiryat Shmona settlement near the Lebanese border.
