Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has announced his departure from the football club after the 2023/24 season.
Klopp, who took the helm in October 2015, has overseen a remarkable transformation at Anfield.
During his tenure, Liverpool achieved significant success, including winning the Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Klopp explained his decision: “I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people at this moment when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it.
“I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.
He further expressed his gratitude and respect for the club and its supporters, emphasizing his commitment to honesty.
Klopp’s decision also involves his assistant managers, Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, and elite development coach Vitor Matos, all of whom will be departing. The club has confirmed that Lijnders is eager to pursue a managerial career of his own.
Liverpool is currently competing in four different tournaments this season, namely the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and Europa League.
