The President of the Jordanian Senate, Faisal Al-Fayez, emphasized the strong bonds that Jordan and France share, based on mutual respect and the combined interests of both nations. Al-Fayez expressed gratitude for the level of cooperation that has been achieved in various sectors.
During a meeting at the Senate headquarters on Tuesday, Al-Fayez met Cyril Beliva, the President of the French-Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Group in the French Senate, along with its members. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Jordanian-French Parliamentary Friendship Committee, Issa Murad, and the French Ambassador to Jordan, Alex Le Cour Grandmézon.
Al-Fayez highlighted the significance of reinforcing Jordanian-French ties and leveraging parliamentary diplomacy to bolster bilateral relations. This includes exploring investment and establishing economic partnerships across sectors to address the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic and the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine war on food and energy security.

Al-Fayez accentuated the importance of activating bilateral agreements, amplifying French investments in Jordan, and ensuring that French investors and businessmen exploit the available investment opportunities in the country.
Discussion topics also encompassed the urgency to resolve regional disputes through political frameworks and peaceful means. Al-Fayez commended France’s supportive stance toward King Abdullah II’s initiatives aimed at achieving a just peace in the region. He reiterated that the only resolution for the Palestinian issue lies in adherence to international legitimacy and the two-state solution.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by its geopolitical position, with Israeli practices to its west and drug and arms smuggling issues from Syria to its north, Al-Fayez praised France’s unwavering support for Jordan amidst these economic and security threats.
During the talks, Al-Fayez pointed out the reforms undertaken by Jordan, stating, “Despite the turmoil and conflicts surrounding us, Jordan continues to build a strong, modern state.”
For their part, the President and members of the French-Jordanian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the French Senate underscored the depth of ties between the two friendly nations. They stressed the importance of the international community continuing its support to enable Jordan to maintain its significant humanitarian role towards Syrian refugees.
They also appreciated King Abdullah II’s efforts in restoring peace and stability in the region, reaffirming France’s commitment to his positions, especially regarding the Palestinian issue and the two-state solution.
