The Japanese government has approved new assistance for Yemen, totaling $3 million from its supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2023.

This aid is intended to support the peace process and humanitarian response in Yemen.

According to a statement from the Japanese government, released on Wednesday, as reported by the Yemeni news agency “Saba Net,” $2 million will be allocated to the Peace Support Project.

This initiative is led by the Office of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, aiming to achieve a political settlement to end the conflict.

The remaining amount will be dedicated to supporting the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism (UNVIM) managed by the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS). UNVIM plays a crucial role in facilitating the flow of commercial goods into Yemen without obstacles.

Japan’s contribution underscores its commitment to promoting peace and stability in Yemen and supporting the humanitarian efforts in the country.

It aligns with international efforts to address the ongoing crisis and work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
