The Israeli military announced that it has launched a broad wave of airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa Valley.

This move comes in response to approximately 40 rockets fired from Lebanon towards the Safed area, as reported by the “Times of Israel” on Wednesday.

The military stated that while some of the rockets were intercepted, at least one rocket hit a residential home, causing damage.

In retaliation, Israeli fighter jets struck over 100 targets in Lebanon, escalating the conflict further.

In a separate statement, Hezbollah claimed its forces targeted the Mossad headquarters in the suburbs of Tel Aviv with a “Qader 1” ballistic missile earlier on Wednesday.

The border regions in southern Lebanon have witnessed ongoing exchanges of fire between the Israeli military and Hezbollah since October 8, following Israel’s declaration of war on Gaza and Hezbollah’s announcement of its support for Gaza.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a stern warning to Israel, condemning the ongoing airstrikes by the Israeli forces on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. Iranian officials cautioned Israel against the “serious consequences” of what they called a “new adventure” in the region.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani strongly condemned the “widespread air attacks” carried out by Israel, describing the strikes as “reckless” and warning of the dangerous repercussions.

Kanaani also criticized the United States for its “unwavering support” for Israel and called on the United Nations Security Council to take “immediate action” to halt the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Senior United Nations officials called for an end to the appalling humanitarian disaster and suffering in the strip, nearly a year after the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas.
