Israel’s Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, held discussions with Bahrain’s Crown Prince, Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, addressing various regional challenges and the topic of free trade.
In a statement, Cohen said, “I met with His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain, and during our meeting, we discussed a range of regional challenges, both countries’ commitment to countering terrorism, the importance of supporting the Free Trade Agreement, and cooperation initiatives between Israeli and Bahraini youth.”
Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to the Crown Prince for his instrumental role in supporting the Abraham Accords, which have transformed the Middle East and contributed to stability and prosperity for the region’s peoples.
Cohen conveyed his anticipation for expanding the circle of peace and normalization with all countries in the region.
The meeting between the two officials was captured in images published by the Bahraini newspaper “Al Ayam,” without providing further details about the encounter.
It’s worth noting that Bahrain announced its decision to normalize relations with Israel on September 11, 2020.
The official signing ceremony took place on September 15, 2020, at the White House, as part of the Abraham Accords.
