The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that the army and the Shin Bet security service have eliminated the commander of the elite squad in the Hamas movement, who led the attack on the town of Nativ HaAsara on October 7.
Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee stated in a post on “X”: “In a joint operation by the Defense Forces and the Shin Bet, fighter jets guided by the Gaza Division and the Shin Bet targeted a compound used by elements affiliated with the Hamas organization, who were operating near the Al-Ahli Hospital area in Gaza City.”
The spokesman clarified that during the raid, eight members of Hamas belonging to the Al-Daraj and Al-Tuffah battalions were killed, including Ahmad Fawzi Nasser Muhammad Wadiya, who was the commander of the elite squad in the battalion and a member of the parachute system in the Hamas movement that participated in the October 7 attack.
Adraee reported that “during the raid, a member specialized in military engineering, sniping, and anti-tank missiles was eliminated, who was responsible for supplying the explosive devices used to blow up the fence in the battalion area during the October 7 attack.”
It is noteworthy that during the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 251 people were kidnapped, 97 of whom are still held in Gaza. The attack resulted in the deaths of 1,205 people on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to official data.
The Israeli bombing and ground operations on the Gaza Strip resulted in at least 40,786 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. The United Nations confirms that the majority of the casualties are women and children.
