Israeli forces have pushed tanks into Khan Younis in southern Gaza, launching strikes across the territory and engaging in clashes with militants, resulting in the deaths of at least 34 Palestinians.
Residents of Khan Younis reported a sudden advance of Israeli tanks into the city center, with the army issuing evacuation orders for the eastern part of the city, forcing many families to flee in search of safety, while others were trapped in their homes.
Palestinian health officials stated that the Israeli attacks on Khan Younis alone resulted in at least 11 deaths.
In the central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah, home to no fewer than a million Palestinians, medics reported that an Israeli airstrike killed eight Palestinians near a school sheltering displaced families.
The strike targeted the vicinity of Al-Manfaluti School, housing displaced individuals in east Deir al-Balah, killing eight people and injuring others.
In the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, journalist Mohammed Abdul Rabu and his sister were killed in an Israeli bombardment of their home, raising the total number of Palestinian journalists killed by Israeli fire to 172 since October 7.
The armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad reported that their fighters engaged Israeli forces in various parts of the territory, firing anti-tank missiles and mortar shells.
The Israeli military added that it had destroyed a three-kilometre-long tunnel in the Nitzarim corridor area of central Gaza.
The location of the tunnel was identified and later demolished by the Yahalom combat engineering unit, alongside reservists from the Jerusalem Brigade currently stationed in the corridor.
Meanwhile, negotiators from Israel, the United States, Egypt, and Qatar convened in Doha yesterday for “technical and workgroup-level” talks regarding a ceasefire in Gaza.
